FAQs
-
How do I initiate services?
Parents are encouraged to initiate the process with a consultation phone call to confirm that your child is an appropriate candidate for speech and language services.
-
Is an evaluation required to start therapy?
We strongly encourage that your child’s speech and language skills have been assessed within the past six-to-twelve months prior to initiation of services. Many insurance providers require a formal evaluation within a year of the treatment period. A comprehensive evaluation can be completed at Speaking of Speech. Outside assessments are also accepted.
-
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are provided for 45 minutes within the home or daycare/preschool setting. Evaluations tend to require additional time. Assessments can be split into two sessions to reduce testing fatigue.
-
What is the cost for private pay?
Therapy sessions are billed at $160 per session. Evaluations are billed at the same rate per hour and this includes testing and writing time.
-
Do you offer tele-therapy?
Tele-therapy is available and will be assessed on an individual basis for appropriate candidacy.
-
What is the cancellation policy?
It is kindly requested that families provide 24 hour notice prior to cancellations. However, we do recognize that illnesses are inevitable. If you need to cancel a session, please notify the clinician prior to the appointment. Clients will be charged a non-refundable $50 for no shows.
-
Do you accept insurance?
Speaking of Speech is an approved provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
An itemized invoice is also provided for families using insurance with “out-of-network benefits.”
